The Fcancer Project is an organisation very close to my heart and extremely inspiring. Each member of the Fcancer team have had a parent affected by Cancer. They decided to put their skills together to form a collaborative initiative for young people to join the fight against Cancer. “Through a dedicated social network, the Fcancer Project is a skills-based platform for volunteers to pledge their time to selected cancer initiatives. The website enables charities to create profile pages explaining who they are and the work/volunteers they require; from artists to musicians, lawyers, accountants and architects. Once a volunteer has donated his/her time, completed hours will be recorded in their Goodwill Bank for all to see.” (The Fcancer website)
The initiative is pretty innovative and I decided to pledge my time by offering to film the event. The Fantasy Ball took place at Battersea Power Station and the space had been transformed into magical mayhem. There were so many different themes such as the Wonderland garden, a gallery showcasing creatives’ work, a magic potion room, a maze, an extravagant ice cream and sweets stall as well as an incredible set by The Noisettes who treated the crowd to songs from their old album as well as new ones! Throughout the night there were silent auctions and generous amounts were dontaed, including a great donation for one of Mick Jaggers’ old guitars! The event was a huge success and probably one of the best events I had evenr been too. It was such a pleasure to film on behalf of Fcancer, I had such fun doing so and left feeling extremely inspired.
